Micro Steam Turbine

What is a micro steam turbine?

micro steam turbineA micro steam turbine converts thermal energy, in the form of high pressure steam, into electricity.

The principle of steam generation is based on the well-known thermodynamic Rankine Cycle.

The main advantage of a steam turbine is that biomass, other fuel or waste heat can be applied efficiently for the on-site generation of expensive electricity.

How does it work?

Superheated steam is produced in a boiler or is recovered from a residual heat source. This superheated steam expands over the steam turbine and sets the turbine into rotary motion. The shaft drives a generator which produces electricity.

  • micro steam turbineOn-site and own electricity generation
  • Saving on electricity bill
  • Saving primary energy and reduction of CO2
  • More independence from the volatile energy market
  • Long lifetime (about 20 years)
  • Reliable and proven technology
  • Flexible power/heat ratio
  • Water as a working fluid
  • Unattended operation
